A Little Love Letter to Our Readers

”Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do": Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus”
Philippians 3: 13-14
At the Biojemmss Gala in October, for the first time publicly or privately in over a decade, I shared a detailed account of how Biojemmss began. It is not just one person’s story, but the combined memories, sorrows and pain of many people, particularly many children that form the story of Biojemmss’ inception. Biojemmss started with the rescue of eighteen children from an abusive children’s home; a rescue mission which began with a young girl sharing she was being sexually abused.
Biojemmss recently celebrated the wedding of our son Mukasa. He secured a full-time job with Mengo Hospital where he had been volunteering, and moved in with his wife. Mukasa, one of the “m’s” in “Biojemmss”, was the last of the eighteen to fly the nest; each of them graduating school or university, starting businesses, careers, and families of their own.
Biojemmss has staff and management today from amongst these alumni. They in turn relentlessly pursue the rescue of children who are in situations like they found themselves. We would never have imagined such beauty from ashes.
This milestone has produced a season of remembering; remembering just how much each of them had to learn to forget, to put behind them, and to heal from to be able to take hold of life’s new possibilities. We are incredibly proud of them.
The Philippians passage talks about “forgetting what is behind”. It is not about erasing the past, but about not allowing the past, the sorrows and failures, to hold us back from stepping into God’s call.
It is also a season of remembering the Lord’s provision during those early years. We have never shared just how challenging those times were. Thank you to those who stood by us during our those times, and who have continued to stand with us to reach beyond the eighteen. We know that the lives they have now would never have been possible without you.
Biojemmss has already been able to touch the lives of thousands of children because of you. There are still children out there waiting to be rescued. We thank you for making this possible and making Biojemmss a light in such darkness.
Thank you for standing with us to Believe in the Children of Uganda.
With Love
