Jan
Trustee (Uganda)
Jan Ajwang is a Ugandan communications professional with more than 15 years of experience across journalism, public relations, media development and training. She holds an MA in International Public Relations and Global Communications from Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies (Wales, UK), and a BA in Education (Literature and English Language) from Makerere University in Kampala. She is also a certified media trainer, combining industry expertise with academic engagement through her work in the media sector and part?time university teaching.
Jan first learned about Biojemmss through its work with vulnerable children and was deeply moved by the organisation’s commitment to restoring young lives and strengthening families. She was particularly inspired by the impact of the Prison Outreach Programme, the involvement of Biojemmss alumni in organisational activities, and the clear evidence of transformation in the children served.
With her background in education, strategic communications, organisational development, fundraising and social affairs, Jan brings a broad and valuable skill set to the Board of Trustees. She is passionate about empowering young people and has spent much of her career mentoring students and supporting them beyond the classroom. Her Christian faith shapes her dedication to community service and her belief in the healing and stabilising power of family.
Jan joined the Biojemmss Board of Trustees to contribute to meaningful, lasting change in the lives of children and families in Uganda. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys reading, listening to music, public speaking, poetry and sports.
