I am a retired Primary School Teacher with 26 years of experience, who remains passionate about the education and wellbeing of all children. Prior to that, I was in charge of a Child Protection Unit, organising CP meetings with child protection agencies and managing a small administration staff. I qualified as a Licensed Lay Minister in 2007. Upon taking early retirement from teaching, I worked as a Bereavement Supervisor at a major hospital trust, where I managed a small team and collaborated with the Medical Examiners Team to improve services and experiences for bereaved families. I also served as an honorary Lay Hospital Chaplain, which I found both humbling and a privilege, sharing life with those who needed comfort and support, and their families, at their most vulnerable and distressing times.
It has been my joy to serve the Lord in all my vocations and areas to which He has called me. Additionally, I had the privilege and joy of serving the Lord as a Youth Worker for many years when my children were younger, and I had the pleasure of leading many young people to Christ over the years. My husband, Nigel, and I have also led young adults’ groups (18-30 years old).
Since becoming a Christian at 13 years old, the Lord has planted in my heart a passion for the lost, wounded, captive, and broken-hearted, and to tend and feed “His sheep.” From the age of 18, I served as a Youth Worker for many years. When my children were growing up, this continued, and it was a joy and privilege to take youth groups to many Soul Survivor Camps and lead many to accept the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. He has given me a passion for working with children and young people, and the gifts and talents to enable me to fulfil that call over many years. It still sets me on fire! I am currently enjoying working within a Kidz ministry at the church we attend.
When I met Sian and Quentin at a recent meeting about Biojemmss, I was so inspired by their passion and dedication. It was contagious! The Holy Spirit convicted me that this was the charity I had been waiting to be involved with. (Only the night before, I had been writing about my vision for it in my journal. Being involved in mission has been on my heart for many years, and I have been praying for God to show me the right one.) To me, this was FAMILY! BIOJEMMSS values are my values. It is Christ-centred, just as it should be. I was overjoyed. The Holy Spirit was definitely moving that night, as almost all of our Home Group are now actively involved too! My husband was also convicted by the Holy Spirit to be involved, which is such an answer to prayer!
I believe that Biojemmss is like the mustard seed; it may have had a small beginning, but it will continue to grow by God’s grace and at His pace, transforming the lives of thousands upon thousands of children and families! God is moving by His Spirit, and I can’t wait to see what He does next!
