Brenda

In 2010, Biojemmss was contacted by a project working with sexually exploited girls in Kawempe Division, Kampala. The project was concerned about a small girl living in a brothel in terrible conditions. Brenda had been the victim of physical abuse, severe neglect and was at high risk of sexual abuse. She now lives at the family home and attends school.

I was staying with my aunt. She used to beat me. I told her ‘I am sick and tired of this place.’ Madam [Siân Davies] came and picked me up and brought me to this place.

“My aunt used to wake up early in the morning to go drinking. She would come back drunk and beat me up. She just caned me without a reason.

“I am now 13 years old and I can testify of the great things God has done in my life. First of all, I want to thank God for the Biojemmss organisation, because God has been using it to do great things in my life. It has helped me to study from baby class and I am now in primary six. I will finish primary school next year, glory be to God. I like this place because they treat me well.

“I thank God so much, because if I was not in Biojemmss, I wouldn’t have reached the class where I am right now. He has given me knowledge to study and to pass exams, and I can get whatever I need through Biojemmss.

“Secondly, I thank God for my life. Many people have died, but I am still alive. I also thank God for Siân, because she has helped me so much since I joined Biojemmss. She bought clothes, food and medication, and helped pay for my education. She also encouraged me to keep my property safe.

“I thank God for all my sponsors and all the people who take care of me. I love you so much Aunt Doris,Siân and all the others.”
